SPRIND aims to create new disruptive innovations in Germany. This means products, services, and systems that noticeably and sustainably improve all our lives. To achieve this, it brings together innovative thinkers from science and business, people with outstanding ideas, special expertise, and passion.
In a joint project with Marvel Fusion, we will advance the ecosystem needed for the commercialization of a laser-driven inertial fusion approach. The main goal of this cooperation is to develop and manufacture a scalable, industrial diode-pumped ultra-high intensity laser system.
- Working at the forefront of laser-fusion-related science & ultra-high intensity laser system development
- Support in solving one of the most complex technological challenges known to humanity, harnessing Fusion on Earth
- Working alongside world-leading scientists and entrepreneurs in laser science
- Working at the intersection of research and industry
The impact you will make
In this role, you will have the chance to broaden your horizon by working at the forefront of high-power laser fusion science. You will be a key person for the installation of the electrical system of the unique ultra-high intensity high-power laser system. Your contributions will significantly impact the development of our cutting-edge technology. You will bring solid expertise to collaborate with multidisciplinary external teams e. g. with the Laser or Engineering Group at Marvel Fusion, which is continuously developing and implementing new technologies to demonstrate key features of its unique laser-driven fusion concept. Furthermore, you will establish connections with external partners around the globe.
- Design and develop the electrical system of a unique, scalable, industrial diode-pumped ultra-high intensity laser system including the development of conceptual designs and testing of prototypes
- Be responsible for building and commissioning these systems during the assembly and commissioning phase
- Be responsible for the integration of the electrical system in a future facility and closely collaborate with the laser and engineering department of Marvel Fusion in the planning, construction, and commissioning phases
- Provide input to a variety of projects in one or more of the following technical areas: analog and digital circuit design, process control systems, pulsed power and electromagnetics, diagnostics and sensor development, electro-optic systems, data acquisition systems, and facility electrical equipment and infrastructure
- Contribute your experience with electrical systems to the overall laser design
- Interact with external partners and team members during this development
What you bring
- Master or Bachelor in Electrical Engineering, or a related field
- Fundamental knowledge of electrical engineering concepts related to design, assembly, calibration, and testing of analog and digital electrical systems
- Extensive practical experience in designing and implementing complex electrical systems with significant areas of responsibility
- Expertise with plants/facilities, e.g., accelerator facilities, steel plants, production plants, power plants, or comparable is a plus
- Knowledge of the European standardization framework for the design of electrical and electronic integration of machining within a plant framework is a plus; if not an expert yet, you should be open to trainings and workshops to gain knowledge
- Knowledge of relevant DIN norms and their application is a plus
- Knowledge of best practices in electrical design and layout
- Fluent English
- A healthy amount of flexibility, adaptability, and a can-do attitude
